About the project
Dark Sky Parks by State is an independent editorial project published by Atelier Jerz. It helps people in the United States find a certified dark place and choose a good night to visit it. We are not affiliated with DarkSky International, the National Park Service or any state park system.
What we do not do
We sell nothing — no telescopes, no tours, no lodging — and we do not carry affiliate links or paid placements. Parks are listed because they are certified, not because anyone asked.
How we check facts
- Certification details — year, category, size — come from each site’s page at DarkSky International, which awards the certification.
- Stargazing advice comes from the National Park Service’s night skies pages.
- The moon planner is arithmetic, not a source: it uses the average length of the lunar month and can be a day off. It says so wherever it gives a date.
- Dated. This edition reflects the sources as of October 2026.
